Treasury Connected

Greg Person

Vice President, Presales

Kyriba

Treasury is not an island, and connectivity to the treasury ecosystem including banks, payment providers, trading portals, and ERP is a must. Yet there remains much confusion about how to right-size treasury connectivity, how to interface cost effectively, and when (and when not) to involve IT, among other questions. The result can often be an ineffective integration, meaning treasury does not get the key information it needs to be a strategic business partner.
Key topics include:

  • Learning the vocabulary: speak like a technology guru
  • How to assess what SWIFT solution you need
  • Avoid overpaying for bank connectivity
  • Do shared services and payment factories make sense
  • A to Z of ERP integration
  • Web services: how to connect trading portals and your treasury system

Greg is responsible for providing consultative solutions to optimize clients’ treasury, risk and working capital processes through the adoption of treasury technology. Greg has over 17 years’ experience in global treasury operations including with Microsoft, EMC Corporation and Wall Street Systems, and was most recently Director of Global Treasury Operations at Boston Scientific. He is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and is an active speaker at AFP and treasury conferences.

BlockChain Technology

Dave Beck

Senior Vice President & Regional Executive

Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond

Blockchain technology got its start with bitcoin but has recently garnered much broader interest.  The technology has been the focus of a good bit of press, and is also being studied by banks, non bank financial services providers, and even governments hoping that it might be applied in ways that lower costs, provide transparency, and improve security.  Chad Harper will discuss how the technology works and the ways it might be useful in banking and financial services.

Dave joined the Baltimore office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as a budget and expense coordinator in 1984, shortly after graduating from the University of Richmond and Loyola University. Since then he has held management and official positions in accounting, data services, facilities, law enforcement, purchasing and most of the Bank’s financial service areas. Dave was promoted to senior vice president and regional executive of the Baltimore Branch in 2005, and currently has responsibility for financial and operations support services in the Fifth District.

Dave also has local responsibility for regional outreach and the Branch Board of Directors, and serves as a member of the Bank’s senior management committee.

Dave serves on the Federal Reserve System’s Industry Relations Team (IRT) which facilitates communication between key payments industry stakeholders and the Federal Reserve’s Financial Services. Dave serves as Board Chair for the Maryland Council on Economic Education (MCEE), and as a board director for Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. He has been an Advisor on the Board of Directors for former EastPay since January 2011.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola University of Baltimore. He is a graduate of the Maryland Banking School and is a 2010 graduate of Leadership MD and a 2006 graduate of GBC Leadership.
